Prenatal Care

Prenatal appointments are held at our beautiful midwifery office in Colorado Springs, CO. For your 36 week prenatal appointment the birth team will come to your home! This will allow the birth team to determine routes to your home and discuss what to expect on your special day. This is also an opportune time for expecting mother's to discuss any particular special requests she may have. Furthermore, this also allows the birth team to familiarize themselves with where things are located inside your home.

What to expect during prenatal visits:

24/7 phone support
Monthly visits up to 28 weeks
Bi-weekly visits from 28 weeks to 36
Weekly visits from 36 weeks to birth
Home visit at 36 weeks with delivery of your birth kit
Lab work (OB panel) at initial visit unless provided by former provider
20 week ultrasound referral (if desired)
28 week antibody testing if indicated for Rh- mothers
Vital signs and assessments
Urinalysis
Assessment of fundal height, fetal activity, position and heart rate (via Doppler or fetoscope)
Assessment of maternal emotional well being
Nutritional counseling (as needed)
Glucose education and/or risk assessment and screening
Group-B strep education and/or (GBS) screening
Hemoglobin and Hematocrit level testing
Community resource referrals
